COMMUNITY ADVISORY COUNCILPLANS 2ND MEETING FOR

GREATER FRENCHTOWN AND SOUTHSIDE AREA RESIDENTS

--Council meets to complete elections, Saturday, June 27, 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.,

Roberts & Stevens Clinic, 1515 Old Bainbridge Road--

Tallahassee–The Community Advisory Council will hold its second meeting to complete its advisory board membership.  Six representatives were chosen during the launch on May 9. The second meeting will be on the north side of Frenchtown in the Health Department’s Roberts & Stevens Clinic, 1515 Old Bainbridge Road.  Additional community representatives will be elected to complete the roster. Two meals will be served.

“The residents who participated in the first meeting really had their fingers on the pulse of what was going on in the community!’” said Dr. Cynthia Seaborn, Health Committee Chair, Tallahassee Branch of the NAACP.  “They did an outstanding job of selecting members to represent their neighbors in the upcoming year and the process was very smooth.”

“What was special about the launch,” said Claudia Blackburn, RN, MPH, Health Officer for DOH-Leon. “was that everyone participated in the nominations and in the discussions about the health issues to focus on.”

Devon Marrett, Frenchtown resident, concurred.  “The meeting was great and much needed,” he said.  “The council provides a platform for people to discuss community issues and concerns; it will be a huge benefit to the residents if we continue the meetings.”

Residents of Greater Frenchtown and Southside areas are cordially invited to attend and help launch the Community Advisory Council.  A free breakfast and lunch will be served.

What: 

Free breakfast, lunch and good conversation with neighbors who want to make progress on the health of the Greater Frenchtown and Southside area communities.
